When the recession hit, many companies were forced to close down and therefore, we lost many supporters. This meant that the charity’s income dropped by 30% while all outgoings such as telephone bills, rent and council tax, remained the same, some even increased!

This forced the Lennox to launch an Emergency Appeal and since then, the support we’ve received from local businesses and individuals has been fantastic!

We’re pleased to say that the charity is no longer at threat of closing down, however, we do still need as much support as possible to ensure we can continue offering ALL our services to the children.

Sadly, during the recession, we were forced to suspend the Welfare Grants Programme as we simply couldnt afford to keep it running. So now we’re hoping that if we can raise enough money in the coming months we’ll be in a position to re-launch it again (with a new name ‘Care Grants’). To do this we still need to raise another £50,000 within the next few months.

In addition, we still need to find funding to continue providing things like spending money and cleaning and maintenance services at each of the holiday homes. These can also run into thousands of pounds every year so please, please do whatever you can to support the Lennox!

This is the Shorefields Log Cabin. It is just one of the charity’s beautiful holiday homes which are offered to families with a child suffering from cancer or leukaemia to allow them some time away from the stress of hospital visits, doctors and treatment.
